1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of The Hale Publishing website and the services we provide. Specific projects are also governed by the individual service agreement you sign with us, which takes priority if there is any conflict.
2. Our services
We provide author services including writing, ghostwriting, editing, proofreading, design, illustration, formatting, printing, audiobook production, publishing, distribution and marketing. The scope, deliverables, timeline and price of each project are set out in your proposal or agreement.
3. Ownership and rights
- You retain the copyright to your manuscript and your book.
- Upon full payment, you receive the rights to the deliverables we create for your book as described in your agreement (for example, cover designs, illustrations and formatted files).
- You confirm that any material you provide is your own or that you have permission to use it.
4. Royalties
Royalties from sales of your book are paid to you by the relevant retailers or distributors according to their terms. We do not take a percentage of your royalties unless expressly agreed in writing.
5. Payments
Payment terms, including any deposits or milestone payments, are set out in your agreement. Work may be paused if payments are overdue.
6. Revisions and approvals
Each service includes the number of revision rounds stated in your agreement. Delays in providing feedback or approvals may affect project timelines.
7. Cancellations and refunds
You may cancel a project in writing. Refunds, where applicable, are calculated based on work completed at the time of cancellation, as set out in your agreement.
8. No guarantee of sales
We work hard to help your book succeed, but we cannot guarantee sales figures, rankings, reviews, awards or media coverage, which depend on many factors outside our control.
9. Website use
You may use our website for lawful purposes only. All website content, design and branding belong to The Hale Publishing unless otherwise stated and may not be copied without permission.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the fees you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
